Do you know Pocoyo?
Pocoyo is a little show on Treehouse featuring a curious little boy. Meighen LOVES this show. She’s also taken by Sesame Street (especially Elmo), Big Comfy Couch and Ellen. I’d say Ellen and Pocoyo could tie for best.

Quick update (almost 35 weeks – 8 months)
It’s been a while since my last post. Not much has been going on lately. Meg and I still go to baby class although the last session is this week. I need to decide if I want to sign up for one next month and if we’re going to pursue swimming classes. I think they start in April.
Meg’s been doing some new things lately. She’s really into sticking her tongue out, especially when we’re out in the fresh air. She loves to be out and about. Although she can, she’s give kisses sparingly. If she’s in the mood I can ask for a kiss and she’ll give me one. It’s sweet.
Meg’s almost entirely on big people food! She has her baby cereal a couple times a day and the rest is good homemade meals. She likes the chicken dishes I’ve made (chicken noodle stew and Thanksgiving dinner) and today we tried some beef stew. She really liked that one too! I’ve also done up a batch of brown rice & vegetables, we’ll see how that goes. I bought a small watermelon yesterday and thought Meg would have fun playing with it. I cut a couple cubes and let her go to town. She had fun smooshing them, gumming on them and sucking out all the juice.
On the progress front she’s still not crawling although she’s been trying to pull herself up and she still has no teeth peeking out. I’m sure things will be different in a month, she’s changing so fast. I find that Meg looks really different lately, very grown up. My folks haven’t seen her in about a month so it’ll be nice to visit with them soon. Everyday she takes on more big kid characteristics. It’s amazing to watch her unfold.
Ben added a video page (see the link above). Check out the video montage he put together.

Always take tissue to the park (33 weeks)
It’s been a little while since my last update. Meg’s still Meg. = )
Since our last visit to Brighton Meg’s been sleeping through the night without any interruptions. It’s been awesome. She’s always been good about only needing me once or twice throughout the night but lately she’s been just fine on her own. She’s now going down between 9 and 10 pm and getting up around 9 am. When she gets up she doesn’t cry, she just sits in her crib playing with her dolly. It’s sweet. It’s the babbling that wakes me up. She’s also changed her nap routine. More times than not she won’t bother napping at all but when she does she’ll go down for a good two hours around dinner time.
Over the last week Meg’s started on meat. She doesn’t mind the pork and apple puree but doesn’t care for pork on its own. You have to mix it with some veggy in order for her to eat it. I made a batch of baby chicken noodle stew and she loves it! She also loves the chicken stock I made and gobbles it up with some rice cereal. She’s such a good little eater. The next few recipes we’ll try are Sheppard’s Mash, Thanksgiving Dinner and pasta in marinara sauce.
Yesterday I took Meighen to the park and this time she actually played on the playground. We bounced on this thing which I’m guessing it the equivalent to a teeter totter although it doesn’t go nearly as high, swung on the swings, slid down the slide and explored the rest of the activities. She had a good time. I’m going to try to take her on a daily basis if the weather’s nice. Something I learned though, always take tissue to the park. It was kind of cool and Meg’s nose was running pretty good. Too bad I didn’t bring anything with me (purse, diaper bag).
Saturday we went to Auntie Julie’s for dinner and today we saw her for lunch. She needed help getting some large items home from the store with our car so I walked from Dundas/Yonge down to her apartment. It was a nice little walk, only about 15 – 20 minutes but we had fun. Meg loves being downtown – the lights, the sounds, the people. So much to see!! She’s such an awesome travel companion. She plays by herself or sleeps in the car, loves to go in and out of different stores, is always a perfect baby in restaurants… she’s amazing. Hopefully it all stays and she doesn’t turn into devil child.
Not too much going on this week. We have the baby group on Thursday and that’s about it. I’m also thinking about my next trip to Brighton. We’re about due, it’s been almost a month.
meighen’s first google
meggy just typed in her first google search.. i’m so proud.. while it didn’t pull up any results, it was still awesome. Then she tried to eat the keyboard.. what did she google?

What the heck is that?
A few people have asked me about Meighen’s little round saucer toy. It’s a Bilibo Mini that she got for Christmas from my friend Ali. Here’s a link to the site. At first I thought “what the heck do we do with this?” It’s a toy for kid’s imaginations. Although Meg doesn’t use her imagination just yet she loves to hold and gnaw on this toy.
Yesterday was our first “Bouncing Babies” group and boy was it packed. I’d guess at around 20 moms and babies… craziness! We all sat on the floor in a circle and sang interactive songs. The babes loved it and Meg wanted to sing along near the end. This one runs the month of February and I think I’ll go back to the activity program next month.
As far as food goes, she’s still working through batch I made last week. She didn’t like the avocado so we’ll add that to her list of “do not like” along side peas. Thankfully she likes broccoli and green beans so she’s still getting green veggies. Next week I’ll start on the more complex recipes. I hope she likes them.
I forgot to mention a few new things about Meg.
She likes to share. Since around Christmas she’ll share her dum-dum (soother) with you. She’ll take it from her mouth and hold it out towards you. If you take it from her with your mouth she gets all smiley. You can then offer it back to her and she’ll grab it with her hand. We do this over and over and if you make funny noises she’ll giggle. She’ll even share her toys with you. It’s so sweet. We haven’t even tried to teach her sharing and she’s all over it so far.
Meighen’s figured out how to undo her diaper. This has been going on for a few weeks. When I change her bum and the new diaper is on, she’ll grab the tab and pull it open. Little monkey! It started with her just scratching at the band across the front of the diaper – she loves scratchy noises. Then she found the tab and figured out how to open it. She’s also taken to rolling around to her front on the change table which makes it really hard to get the diaper on. If she’s at Grammy’s and getting changed on the bed she’ll grab at everything – diapers, dirty diapers, her shoes, package of wipes… nothing is safe.
Since the last time I wrote she’s had a few new foods. She likes cantaloupe and veggies with rice. She really loved the veggies and rice (phew!). I made some vegetable stock the other night and froze it in cubes. You mix that with some rice cereal and you have a nice balanced dinner (sans meat). The recipe is from The Baby’s Table by Brenda Bradshaw. It’s a great book and I’ve done up so many things from it already. The book breaks it into ages. Example – the “from 4 months” section is introducing new fruits and vegetables. The “from 6 months” gets into a bit of meat and makes dishes like Florida breakfast, Chicken Noodle Stew, Sheppard’s Pie etc. I’ll be venturing into those recipies soon – can’t wait! I have so much homemade baby food in the freezer right now, it’s awesome. Pears, peaches, cantaloupe, avocado and apples/cinnamon. Broccoli, sweet potato, squash and vegetable stock. She still occasionally grabs her spoon while I feed her trying to feed herself. She pulls it right to her mouth. = )
Meg’s really getting into new sounds and babbling. It’s awesome. She’ll run a bunch of consonants together to form “ra ma wa ra arr rar”. Last night Ben and I were sitting with her in bed and encouraging her to say “mama”. She kept trying making all sorts of noises and pulling her lips inwards and humming. It was the cutest.
